BACK IN THE WATER

today we went back in the water. this year the sanding and painting went well. we received some help from capt. ken, pin wheel bob, the big z man, and what would work be without buck. the first weekend buck was a bit under the weather, but did he make up for that the next weekend, and then some. at one point i thought the big z man was going to give buck the old sunk stripe down the middle of his head and back, but for some unknown reason he did not do it. the boat it self is in great shape no major work just routine things that needed to be done. we will be back in fortescue by the first of april to finish up the job at hand. see you all soon

ON THE RAIL

this weekend was the start of spring to us. with the bonanza out on the rail it was time to get to doing what it is that we do. this year with the help from the big z man the sanding got off to a quick start. the song of the sander received some new tunes from pin wheel bob, who looked like a blue smurf when he went home. out side of that it looks like just some more sanding , then some more sanding after that and when we finish that we can do a bit more sanding so then we get to do some painting.

MARCH HAS ARIVED

the time has arrived to start doing our thing. we moved the boat around to the boat yard in fairton to get hauled out. we will be on the rail way some time next week to begin work. it seams that every year the boat grows a bit more when it is time to get to sanding. with the first break in the weather, and the removal of snow from the deck the song of the sanders will start to play. after a good going over by the coast guard, some fresh paint, and normal spring time work done it's time to go back in the water. when the boat is out on the rail check back to view pictures of the bonanza II out of the water, she is a sight to be seen. spring is getting ready to show up any day now and that means the fishing season will get going as well.

CHANGES IN 2009

the new dates and size limits are out for 2009 summer flounder fishing. it is not the best of dates, however none of the options were what any of us really wanted. one of the main topics that was echoed many times over was the high mortality rate. i hope this gets more attention in the future. option number 5 was the decision of the council for the 2009 season may 23 - september 4 with a 6 fish bag limit at 18". this does give us the memorial day weekend, but not labor day. it also gets us started a bit earlier than the other options. as for drum fish their may be a increase in size and a drop is bag limit, but that is not worked out yet. as more is learned we will let you know.
