day fishing

well another week has gone by and the same old same old is the story. the flounder that we are catching keep going back and when things work out we keep a few each day. big jim dooley did manage to get his hat trick with his 3ed pool of the year a nice 22" flounder, good going mr. dooley. the group of bob and ruthann from alloway n.j. came downon tuesday the 29th and man did they put on a expo on how to put fish on the boat. on the first drift bob showed his group how to hook two fish at once. then it was game on. in the end they bagged 240 blue fish for the big fish fry. thank you for the invite bob and ruthann but both chris and i got caught up in some other things when we returned . on thursday the 31st mr. al morgan caught his limit on blues, way to go teach. over all blue fish seam to be the mainstay of the week with 1 lb to 1 1/2lb fish, flounder action going strong and keeper flounder action trying to get better.

DAY FISHING 7/19

this week when the weather allowed us to get out the fishing was so so. it still remains the same with the keeper to throw back ratio, you catch a lot and keep only a few. the small blue fish are in full swing.this week rich from the aquarium had a nice day with his flounder at 19" and a few blues.mighty joe young and crew added to this catch with their blues. joe this is the way to relax.forget johnston their are two other people that your names are with the other ones that i can not find but you did have 3 nice keepers 1-18" 2-19" . way to go. grand pop jack swainctrt from collinswood brought his grand sons andrew and rafe down for their day on the bay. the boys caught some blue fish and then jack caught his dinner a nice 22" flattie. way to go grand pop. this group i am not sure who is who but they are all related in some way. one married the others daughter and that one married the others daughter well any how jim and len from phila. and nathan from the poconos caught 10 blues and a 18" flounder and survived a hot day. jerry from carney's point n.j. had 2 flounder 1-18" and 1 - 19", he also added about 10 blues to his catch. dan celebrated his birthday with his wife terri this week. so after working all night he picked up his wife and spent the day on the bay. between the two of them they caught about 18 blue fish. happy birthday dan. then their is a long time friend that showed up the first time this year chuck and his son mike carr. they used their beads to catch some blues. other than that father and son erine and sean from vorhees n.j. came down to relax and all though they did not catch a flounder they did have a few blues. nice to see you erine and sean.

LOWER CHICHESTER/GREEN RIDGE FIRE DEPT.

this trip is full of oh mys. to start this is their second trip with us and the crew that arrived for wednesday,s trip was to say the least a different crew than last year. to bad for me. but the add ons added some welcome entertainment that was, well different. to start to beer was cold and the drift fishing slow. the wind was blowing a good 15 to 20kt from the south, but that only made the crew hold the beer tight in hand and never put them down except to refill. when sunset arrived we anchored up and then the kill started. first one fish, then two fish, then three fish, then blue fish. they just did not stop. it was insane. speaking of insane, just ask brad about the blue fish that he looked at and felt that warm, fuzzy feeling for. you know that feeling you get when you just want to reach out and give that someone special a nice kiss, yep you guessed it brad tried it and the blue fish had other ideas, a good old bite to the lower lip. to top it off he thought that no one noticed what happened, that is until the blood poured down his chin. smooth move dude! back to fishing in all 1 flounder at 19" 3 trout, and 2 herring added to the 300 blue fish made for a nice fish fry back at the neighborhood. well guys i hope you all are telling all your fish stories back at work at conco phillips and sunoco. be careful and safe. thanks for a great trip.

DAY FISHING 7/18

another week has gone by of the 2008 season with a few more flounder caught. it is still not as good as it gets but it still sure beats going to work or mowing the grass every day. on wednesday the 16th a mixed group from vineland n.j. , north carolina, and st. louis mo. found their way to the place called fortescue. allthough the sharks and small blue fish all about 1lb to 1 1/2lb were interesting to aj, brandon, matthew, and tyler both tony and debbie wanted to interest themselves with catching dinner. well as time passed debbie made it happen with her 20" flattie. now she has a fish story to take back to st. louis. we ended up with 3 nice flounder and about 30 blues for the day. jacqueline" aka pud" came down with her grand pop and spent two days fishing and taking charge of the stearing of the bonanza II as she even picked out the hot spots and found the fish. way to go. deninse enjoyed a day with chrisie poo and showed him that it's not only chris the buck tail bland that can catch the big ones , deninse can hold her own. on thursday the17th, the father and son team of len and urbie strouse from sharron hill pa. showed us how to get it done with class. they went on a tear of fluke. using squid and minnow, cut shark, cut sea robbin, and cut blue fish they kept 4 nice fluke 2 - 21 1/2", 1 - 19", and 1 - 20", as well as quite a few blue fish. way to go urbie and len. the only other flounder caught this day belonged to mr. retired ed cole from pennsville n.j., ed is seen in one of the pictures above holding his very own 20" fish. just do not let chris know that ed did it on his own. pepe is seen doing what he does best all day. do not change a thing pepe you doing good. the blue fish still remain a big part of the day as well as the short fish. it still stays the same as if the size limit was 17 or even 17 1/2" the keepers to throw back ratio would be a lot better.

DAY FISHING

it is the same old story you need to be their to pick thru the shorts to get to the keepers. the main stay of fish are 16" to 17 3/4" this is frustrating to say the least. peen real bob did manage to capture a drum of 30lb to win the pool. russ shino from millville n.j. keep 4 flounders over the weekend, good thing capt. joe jr. put him on the meat. izzy from bridgeton n.j. won the pool with his 19 1/2 flattie. and of the just get out and enjoy the great outdoors groups chris rice and paul rice from springfield pa. , stan stiles and keith egan from millville n.j., and of course al sr.,al jr., and catharine all made the week more enjoyable by spending a wonderful day on the bay. al jr. comes down from norton vermont to spend time with his family including his dad 84 year young al sr., that is something else nice. ben from millville keep his first of the year, way to go ben. mr. al morgan from bridgeton received some inspiration and sunshine while enjoying a day on the bay. the group from phila. of roman and rich did manage to keep a flounder and some blue fish. the small blue fish are starting to show up in some numbers. these are the fish that are about a pound to a pound and a half. the croakers are still not in any great numbers yet, but we are still on the hunt for them. you can be sure that when they arrive you will be the second to know. looking forward to better days of keeping some decant fish.

Mr. George Sullivan

Mr. George Sullivan from Media Pa. passed away on Monday July 7,2008. Our prayers and condolences go out to his family.For those of you that had the honor to know Mr. Sullivan you know the type of person that has passed on. As more information is gathered it will be posted.

JULY 4TH FIREWORKS

mighty joe young and his group from franklinville n.j. went to cape may n.j. to enjoy a great night of fun. we might of had more time to enjoy, on the way to cape may but some one arrived a tad bit late, no names mentioned gina. but all in all,the sites and sounds proved to be exciting. the fireworks were nice as well. one of the main conversations was about joe dropping the up side down rum cake, man was it up side down then. other than that it was just a great night with great people. their was two small things that someone left behind. the first was the man in the picture above, no name tag or forwarding address was attached so we just propped him up on the dock, and he was gone by morning. thank god. the other, well just look at the picture, i think that is all that needs to be said. thanks joe young and your group for a great 4th of july.

DAY FISHING WEEK 6/30

ok, i know it has been said many times and many ways, however the fishing is great. the catching is another thing. each day does produce a few fish. on monday june 30th ben sr., ben jr., dena, denisha, benard, chantel, and brian from philadelphia pa. spent a relaxing day on the bay. joe the eel man caught his big bluefish. this is one of the day's that the catching was not all that great. one of the future captains come down to take charge and help with the work, dustian is pictured taking us home after the long day on the bay. the rest of the week we caught some blues,a few croakers, and still managed to keep a flounder or two. the short fish still take charge during the day and the action is plentifully. on saturday july 5th capt joe jr. found a couple of trout that made the trip back to fortescue. he also keep a few flounder. on sunday july 6th alex robertson from newfield n.j. came down with his brother and dad and they went home with 5 keepers and 2 bluefish. alex did manage to win the pool with his 23" flattie. blaine and scott came down from philadelphia pa. and with their shark bait they caught 3 nice fish, 2 at 18" and one at 19" way to go guys. on sunday capt. joe did have 12 keepers and about 12 blues. fishing still seams to be the best around the stakes. still what a great day on the bay.

WEEKEND 6/28 & 6/29

after friday the 27th it looked all good for the flounder fishing. on saturday the bite stayed as it was on friday. capt joe jr was in control and boy oh boy was he in a good mood. their was fish after fish coming up, again shorts but their were a few pairs that were just nice to see on deck. just ask team atkins , from daddy's view of things he kept almost a matching pair of 21" flounder but one was slightly bigger that the other at 21 1/2". big jim dooley caught his 25"flounder to cap off his day. clint scott from philadelphia pa. returned to the big city with a 19 1/2" flattie. then you have andy and sue from cederbrook n.j. pulling off the hat trick with 3 fish at 18 1/2", 19", and 20 1/2" way to go. their were a few more and i apologize to those of you that i did not get your names and pictures. then came sunday & monday and your thoughts could not help but return to "oh my goodness what happened". so what happens now, well come on down and enjoy a day on the bay and find out because tomorrow may be the next big catch and you will not get the chance to cook them , if you do not come down to hook them. from the crew of the bonanza II we hope all have a good and safe holiday weekend.

NIGHT TIME FISHING

well not sure how to put this so lets just get it out their. night time fishing is slow, slow, slow. over the last two weeks that we went out for trout at night it has not been a trout full evening. on one trip peen real bob caught two trout, and rich from camden aquarium caught two drum in the 25 to 30lb range. then you have nolin from fariton n.j. that caught one trout and 7 or so croakers. oh the mate nick did catch two trout and a decant flounder at 23" (all that to mate chris's surprise) . other than that i do not know what to say expect i hope july is better for night fishing.
