CROAKERS AND STILL MORE CROAKERS
over the weekend the croakers were biting well. each day we will try to make the trip to the croaker grounds. at the present time we are fishing 15 miles down the bay, and since last wednesday the croaks have been acting right. their is no telling how long they will last like this , but for now all that can be said is LETS GO GET THEM.

I have fished on the Bonanza II 7 times this summer and must say I did enjoy myself. I have given away all the fish I have caught with the exception of 2 flounder. During my past trip (Mon. 8/18) I was very saddened by the integrity of the ship's mate Chris. I caught a total of 4 croakers which was ok. The largest of the 4 was a nice 15". I told the mate that I wasn't going to keep the fish so he gave it to an older gentleman near me. When it came time to find out the winner of the "pool" Chris asked me if I had a fish to enter. I told him that the 15" fish that the older man had was actually mine. Chris told me the man had also caught a large fish and that he, Chris, must have filleted mine. I didn't really mind not getting my share of the winnings as much as the mate telling me that it wasn't my fish that had won.
As I said, I had gone out on the Bonanza II 7 times this summer and planned to go out many more times. Since I am a teacher, I have the entire summer off and love being out in the sun fishing as often as possible. I guess this incident left a "fishy" taste in my mouth and I will now have to search for a different fishing boat to enjoy my trips on. This is quite unfortunate because I did enjoy myself on the Bonanza II.
I too have fished on the Bonanza 2 all summer long and in my opinion, the deck hands work hard, are friendly, and are very honest.Any time I needed help with a rig,or choice of bait,or just general questions, they have always been right there to help me out or guide me in the right direction.Personally,I have never seen an integrity problem with Chris or the other deck hands,Nick,Buck and Cody. When I give fish away (especially ones that might win the pool),I always wait till the pool is decided before giving fish to other passengers. That way, there is no controversy, and it also gives me something to do on the way back to the dock.I love this boat, and I respect all who work on her.So needless to say,I will be back.
